Default Vanilla Warroir Farming (Video) and the next level ...

hi
some months ago i heard about farming griffons and other stuff ... i have been pretty new to the game and didn't understand how warriors could be able to survive such big mobs without any support ... so i tried and tried build after build and i made the decision ( at the beginning i've been lvl 17 and just reached elona ) that i need to evade most of the damage to survive ... with skills like shield stance, bonettis and defensive stance i was able to survive but the dmg i did ( first tries against the minotaurs at elona ) was to low so it lasted "years" to get all the minos down ...
the key has been gladiator's defense which i captured as i gave up farming and returned to the campaign ...
the mirror-me was done and i explored the dragon cave. first attempt - cleared but died at glint and i found out there was an elite stance i could use for my farm-runs ... so i reached lvl20 and got gladi ...
after a few runs i found out if tactics was at 14 i could easily switch between gladi, defensive and shield stance keeping one of them active the whole run, cyclone axe with a zealous axe also ensured my energy management. well, with high tactics what else could you imagine than using healing signet if you are low on health ?
the few mino attacks that still hit me were still strong so i decided to increase my armor by "watch yourself" and dlyak signet. and thats finally it. with this build i made my first very sucessful farming runs to mino at elona, griffons wherever they are and trolls in front of droknar.

  • sprint (mainly for trolls and griffons - well, elona ... pff)
  • cyclone axe
  • defensive stance ( can be exchanged with bonettis but doesn't make a
  • difference )
  • shield stance
  • gladiator's defense [elite]
  • healing signet
  • "watch yourself"
  • dolyak signet

tactics: 14 (most times +1 helmet and +1 rune)
strenght: XX (it only affects dolyak so one sec more or less isnt that important ...)
axe mastery: XX (enough to be able to hold it properly ^^)

axe: def +5 and zealous (max dmg of course and perhaps +15% while stance or ^50)
shield: +45hp and -2dmg and of course max def (both while stance - many options to reach this now ... collectors or bosses 4 different green and blue shields with this stats afaik)

using it:
you run in and then you always keep a stance active in this order: gladi -> shield -> gladi -> defensive -> gladi -> shield -> ... and so on
while that you always whirl your axe wildly (cyclone) and heal if you feel the need to ... you can go on with this as long as you want to so if the damage is not to high your possibilities are infinite ...

i like this build because it is easy to master, i invented it by myself and you dont have to have a perfect armor, weapon or all attribute quests done to use it (but being lvl 20 could be useful - well you are in most cases because of the massive ep push from your mirror-me ^^) ... and yeah you dont have to change your secondary class for it

## VIDEO - "Vanilla Warrior Farming"##

i made a video after farming around a while so if you would like to watch how i farm some standard places in tyria, go ahead :
http://rapidshare.de/files/15907161/...rming.wmv.html

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
now the improved versions:

as time goes by i became advanced in gw and because also in farming - i went to solo the beach (in the edge), the fire isle and nearly the whole snake dance and so on (also more or minor sucessfully underworld but for this i prefer my monk)
... and so i thought about the standard spots again and of course i decided that this build is too slow after some time, so i tried different secondary classes and skills ... edge of extinction was funny but ... well too time intensive to position the ghost right before you go in. next one: mark of pain ... could work fine but those stupid minos started running around like a bunch of bees is flying so i abandined that ... well just an excerpt of my tries but i finally stick with fire elementary

these are the improved builds for elona:

  • inferno
  • cyclone axe
  • flame burst
  • shield stance
  • gladiator's defense [elite]
  • healing signet
  • "watch yourself"
  • armor of earth

and for the droknar trolls:

  • sprint
  • cyclone axe
  • flame burst
  • shield stance
  • gladiator's defense [elite]
  • healing signet
  • "watch yourself"
  • armor of earth

these builds should be easy to understand. the only thing that is added is damage through fire and dolyak replaced by a nearly equivalent earth armor. you have to handle your energy more carefully but it should be still easy.i decided to pick flame burst over inferno because of the colldown rate as your energy is recovered pretty fast through the zealous axe.

so thats it - comments are welcome and if you want me to post more farmbuilds or make videos about whatever ... i'm open to it

I think that SoJ would serve you better if you went W/Mo with 12 smiting... It does a lot more damage than Gladiator's Defense (at 16 smiting it's double). A nice factions skill you could also use is Double Dragon...hits really really hard.

P.S. This should go in the thread labelled "farming"

Soj doesnt block 75% of the attacks so you will probably die faster

as tuna said - you need the chance of blocks against the trolls or you wont be able to use the healing signet and armor of earth (->interrupt).
well, soj and dd are elites so there is perhaps a way to get them in and master the run properly but then you will be slower in killing the mobs because of the cooldowns and this is a step in the wrong direction.

... and this is definitely a farming builds containing post so why not moving it to another ones

but thx for your suggestions

If you want to use Glads Def then you should pump tactics up to 16.

i already did, but 14 is just right ...
with this the stances last exact long enough to be held up all the time ... the sup rune is unnecessary here, well you can put it into axe mastery but the most damage is done through the fire spells ...

and plz rate my video - let me know if you liked it or not

my troll skills are a bit diff, and works quite fast
armor is sentinels btw
Mending
Live Vic.
Healing Breese
Sprint
Dolyak sig
Cyclone Axe
Bonnettis Defense
Triple Chop {Factions E}

healing 8
strength 13
axe 13
tac 9

sup axe, major str.

i use a req 8 15^50 hand axe with furious mod and fortitude, but any is fine i think, also i use a -2 w/ench tall shield, because u cant guarantee u will always be in a stance

EDIT: to make this build work you have to aggro as much as the trolls as possible, and just keep spamming cyclone then putting on bonnettis, and then just use triple chop when its charged

vs melee fighters the best thing ive came up with is Glads defense + the 2 ripostes and using shieldbash and ON your knees to recharge glads instantly, alloying with a bit of good timing endless glads

its a Factions skill tho (on your knees)

the trolls build works too, but is weak if youre attacking only several very powerful monsters (like a boss or so)
